On Thursday, May 29, the last student musical showcase of the year, “Evening of Entertainment,” kicks off at 7:00pm (seating begins 6:30pm) at Union Grove United Methodist Church, 6407 Union Grove Church Road in Hillsborough. Admission is $5 at the door. Our hosts at Union Grove UMC will provide snacks and beverages, with 100% of proceeds going to the Chorus program.
The annual Chorus Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 22. The evening begins at 6:00pm in the CRHS cafeteria with heavy hors d’oeuvres, and then moves into the auditorium for the awards ceremony at 7:00pm.
Tickets are available from Ms. Pegram NOW through the end of the school day on Monday, May 19. No tickets will be sold at the door; they are only available in advance. Admission is free for current choir students but a ticket is required to attend. Tickets for parents, siblings, and others not in the choir program are $5 per person. The admission cost helps to pay for the food we serve before the ceremony. Please get your ticket if you plan to attend! You will need it to get into the cafeteria. Formal attire is expected. Church clothes, prom dresses, chorus tuxes: whatever you would like to wear as long as it’s formal. Ms. Pegram has asked that there be no jeans at the event. We hope everyone will attend, so get your ticket order in NOW! Don’t forget, you can’t buy them at the door! Questions? Please contact Angie Pegram at [email protected]. Please join us for our next Boosters meeting on Tuesday, May 13, at 6:30pm in the Chorus room. We'll be discussing the Chorus Awards Banquet (May 22), officers for next year, and fundraising.
Please come! The Cedar Ridge High School combined choirs, under the direction of Angie Pegram, will perform “Broadway: Past & Present” as their annual spring pops concert on Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9 at 7:00 PM.
Presented in two acts, the concert will offer a chronological journey through some of the most iconic and popular musicals in American Musical Theater history. Barbershop quartets, solos, duets, and ensemble numbers will bring to life some of the most cherished characters and enduring songs from Broadway. Golden Age musicals will display the genius of Rodgers and Hammerstein, with classics from Carousel, Oklahoma!, South Pacific, and The Sound of Music. The concert will also feature favorites from My Fair Lady, The Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, Mary Poppins, and one of the greatest love stories of all time, West Side Story. Follow the evolution of musical theater styles from the 1950’s shimmy of Grease, the 1960s and Motown influence of Hairspray, the 1970’s intensity and joy of A Chorus Line, through the 1990’s rock and pop of Rent. And the new sound of classical theater comes through with the Victorian and gothic pop of Jekyll & Hyde, the modern operatic vision of The Phantom of the Opera, and the epic and tragic Les Misérables. Performances will be held in the Cedar Ridge High School Auditorium, 1125 New Grady Brown School Road, Hillsborough, NC. Admission is $5; children under 5 and seniors 65 and older receive free admission. Doors open at 6:30pm. Contact: Angie Pegram, Director, Cedar Ridge High School Choirs [email protected] Ms. Pegram had an excellent interview on WCHL where she spoke about the Pops concert and the ideas behind "Broadway: Past & Present."
